Sunshine 1961-2010

In October of this year, my father and I came to the realization that our wooden boat could not be saved. We had a 1961 Lyman, a 26' classic wooden boat, lap streak, with a 327 rambler engine.About 3 years ago, when the boat was being hauled into the water, the ribs of the boat cracked.When it was launched it leaked a lot, and we didn't use it that season. It was hauled out again that winter and has sat on land for 3 years. We put it up for sale but had no serious offers. It just rotted away. We have a friend Joe, who volunteered to cut it up if for us if he could could sell the parts and get some scrap metal. My father said ok. I went down to he marina to get our belongings out of the boat, and to unscrew the Sunshine plaque off the transom. I photographed most of the boat inside and out. When I came back the next day, the boat was being sawzalled by Joe and Carl.I documented that too, and came back again and Sunshine rested in pieces. My father bought the boat in the early 90's for $1 from his boss and we had at least 15 years great years on it. From fishing Barrington Beach to weekend adventures on Prudence Island she had a good ride.
